About This Place

Blooming Batter, formerly known as Stacks Toronto, is a charming brunch restaurant and event venue nestled in the heart of Etobicoke at 5415 Dundas St W. This inviting spot has carved out a distinctive niche for itself by serving up breakfast and brunch dishes that boast a perfect blend of comfort and creativity, making every visit feel like a special occasion.

The menu is a delightful celebration of classic brunch favorites infused with playful twists. Signature dishes like the Banana Bread Pancakes Mini and the rich, savory Smoked Salmon Benny Cold Salmon showcase the kitchen’s commitment to both variety and quality. For those who love a heartier breakfast, the 3 Egg Omelette with Cheddar, 2 Potato Pancakes & Toast is a satisfying, balanced combination that delights with every bite. The potato pancakes deserve a special mention—they bring a European flair that customers like Eva Farkas have appreciated, adding a crispy, flavorful texture that elevates the typical brunch plate.

For pancake lovers, the gourmet varieties at Blooming Batter are simply irresistible. Imagine indulging in the Cheesecake Pancakes layered with creamy filling and topped with a luscious cream cheese icing and your pick of strawberry, raspberry, or blueberry compote—a feast that is both indulgent and beautifully presented. Or savor the Banana Bread Pancakes studded with chocolate chips and crowned with pecans and cream cheese icing, delivering a warm, comforting sweetness that lingers long after the last bite. Chocolate lovers shouldn't miss the Cookies and Cream Pancakes, where chocolate ganache and cookie crumb create a decadent harmony of flavors.

The beverage offerings are equally thoughtful. Coffee aficionados will appreciate the carefully brewed Nespresso options, whether it's a robust Americano, a velvety Cappuccino, or a smooth Oat Milk Latte that perfectly complements the richness of the food. Punctuating the meal with multiple cups of excellent coffee is a pleasure many guests, like MRS, have returned to enjoy.

Beyond the food itself, Blooming Batter impresses with its warm and inviting atmosphere. The ambiance is described as airy, bright, and beautifully curated—offering not just a meal but a cozy retreat for catching up with friends or celebrating special moments. The attentive and personable service, frequently praised for going the extra mile, creates a welcoming environment where guests feel genuinely valued. Kelly McConnell’s glowing recount of the staff’s friendliness and attention to detail underscores the care that makes this venue stand out.

Blooming Batter also shines as an event venue, hosting intimate gatherings such as bridal showers with the same level of thoughtful service and culinary excellence that defines its daily brunch offerings. This dual role showcases their versatility and dedication to making every experience memorable, as Connie Dimech warmly attests.

Whether you are stopping by for a leisurely brunch, craving a comforting plate of expertly crafted pancakes, or looking to host a beautiful event with attentive service and delicious food, Blooming Batter promises a delightful experience that leaves a lasting impression. A fantastic breakfast/brunch spot! We didn't order the amazing pancakes due to dietary restrictions, but we coveted them from afar as tables nearby indulged in the gourmet delights. We shared the "A Little Bit of Everything", which was just the right size for my husband and myself, as I wasn't super hungry. I'm European, so potato pancakes are a great addition instead of the usual home fries. They even brought me sour cream! Cute little extra touches and fantastic fast service really elevate this spot from the many other breakfast places we've visited. An actual ceramic teapot, a fancy water glass. Cozy, happy decor with lots of space between tables, and lots of light from windows around the entire restaurant. The only challenge is the location. It's at the base of a condo. Parking is only accessible from the back and is underground. That's not clear when you arrive. The parking seems to require payment. There are dedicated spots for the dental clinic and other medical facility also here but no signs for the restaurant. We parked in a non-marked spot and did not pay so hopefully we won't be returning to a ticket! If you live in the West End of Etobicoke in the south end we highly recommend you check out this spot. I'm sure it fills up on brunch days and on the weekend in general but during the week there's lots of space and the service is great. The food is fantastic also!

Popped into Stacks for a random brunch one day when I was in the area with my husband! We had seen Stacks on social media and always had it in our minds to check it out when we could. We visited on a Thursday around 11am and we were seated right away. Our server was happy and bubbly and attended to us really quickly. The coffee is GREAT - we had multiple cups! We both got breakfast meals and side of pancakes. The potato pancakes were unlike anything I’ve ever tried, the texture was different but super filling. I’m a homefries kinda gal but the potato pancakes were a welcomed change. We also had a stack of their Classic Pancakes and THEY WERE AMAZING!! The perfect texture, size and cook. The space is large, bright and has a very relaxed vibe. We also learned that they host private events which is super ideal for us because we have a few events coming up and we’ve officially put Stacks onto our list of venues! We will definitely be back!

Dishes are clean, healthy (for the most part!), and yummy! Service has always been friendly. Highly recommend the chili cheese potato pancakes and Elvis pancakes. And the grilled cheese. And almost everything else.

If I could give more than 5 stars for the service, I absolutely would! The staff were incredibly personable, friendly, and truly went the extra mile to make our brunch experience special. The ambiance was super cute and beautifully put together—perfect for a cozy catch-up with a friend or even a small event (yes, they host those too!). The food was delicious, and the tea pot? Hands down the cutest I’ve ever seen. I’m already looking forward to going back. Highly recommend!

Nice Brunch spot with good service. I got Just the Basics breakfast which came with Eggs, Toast, Potato Pancakes and Bacon. Everything tasted good. My friend got the Fruit Topped Classic Pancakes (Mini).

Absolutely phenomenal! This place is amazing — I truly can’t recommend it enough. The food is fresh, flavorful, and clearly made in-house with care. The salmon eggs benedict are to die for — perfectly cooked and beautifully balanced. We also tried the strawberry cheesecake and banana Nutella pancakes, and both were incredible. Don’t even get me started on the ice latte ( THE BEST I EVER HAD). It’s not just milk and espresso but also they add milk foam like a proper latte. Our food came out quickly, and our server Trish went above and beyond. She was kind, attentive, and so accommodating (give her a raise, seriously!). If you’re even thinking about coming here — just go. Take my word for it, you won’t regret it!
